Homeschooling in Texas

Not legal advice. This page is a general pointer only. Homeschool rules change. Read the official source, and talk to a qualified attorney or your state education agency about your situation.

The Texas Education Agency publishes the state's official guidance on home education: https://tea.texas.gov/families-and-students/finding-school-your-child/home-schooling

What to look for on the official page

• Whether you must file a notice or affidavit, and the deadline
• Required subjects or instruction time
• Assessment or evaluation requirements
• Recordkeeping expectations
• Other legal options, such as private, charter or online public schools

We do not summarize the statute here, so you get it straight from the source.
